Are you going to bother to upgrade? I'm sure as hell not. I'm happy with my XP and Slackware Linux 11.0 setup. I may actually have interest into looking into a power book pro down the line. I know mac well, But don't have one sadly. I think being multi platform is always a good thing.

I'll stick with XP, Just need a new Hardrive {SMILIES_PATH}/sad.gif
I'm not, I like the way things run now, and my laptop can't handle the fancy interface it has anyway, so I'd have to run it without that.

Bill Gates is acting like system where users can make there own skins is new to the market. Sorry, Both Mac and Linux have had that option for at least 10 years now. And you can get alt shells for xp also. I think I am going to save up for a mac

I do have it, and its awesome.
Its actually running on a laptop with 1.3Ghz Celeron and 512MB ram and runs flawlessly.
Havent used it too much since i dont wanna put it on my new laptop until i know it runs everything ok but so far its got some real nice improvements and some cool new features.
Totally not worth $400 for ultimate edition, but it you know "someone" who has it, its worth it

...I have no clue what Vista is.
...I have no clue what Vista is.
Its the new version of Windows that came out today.
There are currently 3 known exploits for SSP.
As long as you can keep Vista from receiving information from mother house, you can keep your Vista RTM 30 days away from activation.
This can be easily done by advancing the date to 2099 on Bios setup, installing Vista, dehactivating internet Time update, and then go back to Bios setup and put the date back to actual date. I have tryed, blocked all Windows comunications with McAfee firewall (you cannot rely on windows firewall) and I kept windows at 30 days from activating during one month and some days. Then for some stupid reason I let windows make un update and imediatly it turned to 29 days.
Boo boo if you can't understand chink, but here's the google translation:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fit.enorth.com.cn%2Fsystem %2F2006%2F12%2F21%2F001496700.shtml&langpair=zh%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

Yeah but i hate shit like that.
Im trying to find the type of activation crack that xp had, where it makes windows think its already activated and you can use everything as normal.
Im not gonna run vista without being able to update it, who knows how many fucking holes it has right now.
I was messing around with it on a computer in CompUSA today, to different, I'll stick with XP lol. Like it does everything fine, why bother changing to something and having to get used to it.
Jared

I'll get vista eventually. When I can steal it that is or download it.
I'll end up getting it when I get a new computer, since even if I wanted it, my computer cant run it

I have to say that XP is by far the most stable and reliable windows ever. Of coz, 3.1 beats it all due to the simplicity of the system. And fo shizzle, MS-Dos is the king..

lol, I was just joking, I hate Macs anyway
Apple is so good at making people to believe that a wagon dragged by a horse is better than a car today (efficiency wise). For example, it seems like the creator of iPhoto have never seen what ACDSee offers back in 1998.
I found the solution to installing Vista...

I still think Wingows RG was the best version of Windows ever -

Shut Down is the best part
"Surely you love Windows more then this!"
And the Word paper clip
I used to put the full screen version of that on the computers in high school and it would really freak people out when they sat down to use the computer.

Fuck mac, tell me how a company that bragged for years and years how much faster than Intel machines it was, and now THEYRE USING INTEL'S GODDAMN CHIPS!!!!
And the rest of thier hardware still sucks. The only good part is the OS and if you want that, just run linux!
Another go for fuck macs. Yes, this misery basturd Jobs finally figures: shit dude motorola cpu and our own os suck balls, let's flip to the intel and unix side! Oh, wait, we ain't dropping price though!
There are more than handful of Unix like systems which are better than OS X: BSD, Slackware, Debian...and they are free.

I like how Microsoft makes fun of Linux, but wait. Windows is compiled and coded in Linux. Oh dear Bill Gates....
Perhaps we should start the thread: Rant on OSs?
Mac is great for some noobs, yes, noobs. I can't deny that a lot of pro video/photo editors are still using mac, and there is also the fact that a lot of these (note: not all of them) dudes' head will explode when they try to use a pc. The lady I work with, who's a graphic designer, she look like it's easier to shoot herself than grabbing the PC mice..Mac has better interface and simpler to use? Not to me, but again it's an subjective question.
The only thing troubles me is Apple is so good on telling lies fooling those who have never used a damn computer (or those who are not frequent users) before, that their os offer this and that for free..uh, yes, the price of OS is embedded in the Mac computer's price tag..oh? And you want to upgrade? Good freaking luck for paying a lot more! OH NO! Your Mac is too slow to run OS 9/X!!! Buy a new mac! Excuse me..people are still running Linux on 486 and 586. Yes, it breaks down to profit making after all.
Almost forgot..what does pc do and mac don't? Right click.
(Yep, you can pay extra for a damn 3 buttons usb mouse while the mac itself costs thousands, go figure)
The only good thing Apple ever made was the iPOD, and now thats not even that good compared to the Zune, I want one of those, I just can't afford it...unless I "break" my ipod

eh,the zune is cool if you liek carrying around a brick that doesnt like your fingers unless you have twigs for fingers IMO.
The iPod,sleek,elegant,simple,a true machine.
^^my poor attempt at copying a car commercial.
My ipod is bigger then the Zune lol
And the ipod has so many limitations, like you can't delete or move songs on it, and how hard they make it to transfer songs back to the computer
I do still like it, but I'd get a Zune over it now if I could

wma files = 64 bit rate = go die plz
Zune can only use WMA? Ok maybe I don't want one.
But I'm stuck with ipod not matter what, besides I could never afford anything else, at least half my music I copied my friends CDs into my laptop then the ipod, and stupid itunes ripped them in that apple music format, so nothing else would play them, I'd lose like half my music if I switched. And even the CDs I'd legally bought are all in that Apple format, I'd never have the patience to re import all those, let alone find most of them.
Actually, this is what I've really always wanted, but never have any hope of affording -
http://www.archos.com/products/video/video_generation4.html
{SMILIES_PATH}/huh.gif
There are a lot more players out there can do both wma and mp3 other than ipod and zune..ipod is the shittiest player ever, hmm..let me rephrase, most RIP OFF POS.
Not to mention the price of SD 4GB is only $30..
Aero you are the exact sheep apple wants, everything by apple..Jobs is one son of a biyatch. (But you can't deny he's really good on rippin off your last penny!)

I do want a new one tho, Only because 6GB isnt enough space.
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/29/xp-vs-vista/
Our hopes that Vista might be able to speed up applications are gone. First tests with 64-bit editions result in numbers similar to our 32-bit results, and we believe it's safe to say that users looking for more raw performance will be disappointed with Vista. Vista is the better Windows, because it behaves better, because it looks better and because it feels better. But it cannot perform better than Windows XP. Is this a K.O. for Windows Vista in the enthusiast space?
If you really need your PC to finish huge encoding, transcoding or rendering workloads within a defined time frame, yes, it is. Don't do it; stay with XP. But as long as you don't need to finish workloads in record time, we believe it makes sense to consider these three bullet points:
* Vista runs considerably more services and thus has to spend somewhat more resources on itself. Indexing, connectivity and usability don't come for free.
* There is a lot of CPU performance available today! We've got really fast dual core processors, and even faster quad cores will hit the market by the middle of the year. Even though you will lose application performance by upgrading to Vista, today's hardware is much faster than yesterday's, and tomorrow's processors will clearly leap even further ahead.
* No new Windows release has been able to offer more application performance than its predecessor.
Although application performance has had this drawback, the new Windows Vista performance features SuperFetch and ReadyDrive help to make Vista feel faster and smoother than Windows XP. Our next article will tell you how they work.

My duel core set and XP runs pretty good. Of coarse I have linux installed, But I also have XP. XP isn't a bad operating system, But you do have to watch what sites you go to ect. It tends to be high maintaice (spelling, I'll fix later) at times.
XP is the most stable and powerful release of MS's OS since 95. ME is the worst.
Jared

I got ME running alright.
XP is the best, vista is a terrible add on.
The only nice thing is the new shells. But you can do that in XP with an alt shell. Ex astron shell, or black box.

ME, haha what a joke that was!
And as for Vista - We waited 5 years for this?
ME was horrible, I remember how I upgraded to it, then a week later reformated my hard drive so I could get 98 back lol
i never had ME,but a computer room at our school does, not that its a suprise that the comps blow, but ME doesnt help.

I had a list together to change the guts in my atx tower here, Intel ref board 975x, same 2.66 DC, ati vid , wd raptors ect etc..but after tallying up everything with legit software It didn’t make sense to me anymore. I used to care about getting every ounce of performance but it doesn’t matter to me anymore. Things change so fast these days it doesn’t make sense to get the latest chip for 3x more than something a tad slower.. They offer the new quad core in this box for 900 more lol no thanks
But apparently this 710 is designed with an nvidia chipset to run SLI video with the duo core. I didn’t go for a second card or even the best single (8800)...fuck it, it will be fine to edit photos.. I have the samsung 24" lcd already
I always used intel chipset on asus or abit boards, then went with more stsble intel ref boards...This is my first non intel chipset
